A Look At How We Can Further Prevent Motor Vehicle Accidents Here In The United States
Car crashes and other such motor vehicle accidents are far too commonplace here in the United States, with up to six million of them occurring over the course of just one year. Unfortunately, up to three million people are injured in these accidents, with many of these injuries serious or even completely life changing, such as can all too often be the case with spinal cord injuries that occur from a car accident or other such motor vehicle accident. In addition to this, more than 30,000 people – sometimes even 40,000 people – will lose their lives to car accidents and other such motor vehicle accidents over this very same course of time.
And there are many reasons that preventable car accidents occur. In many cases, it’s due to reckless driving, such as driving while distracted (such as while using your phone or other electronic device or even just eating as you drive) or to drunk driving or driving while otherwise intoxicated. In other cases, car accidents occur simply from speeding or not paying close enough attention to the road.
And still more car and other such motor vehicle accidents occur because of improperly secured truck cargo. After all, debris on the road has been known to cause as many as 200,000 accidents on a yearly basis, according to a study that was conducted by the AAA. And the majority of these accidents – up to two thirds of them, as a matter of fact – are actually caused by improperly secured cargo on any given truck, be it a pick up truck or a freight carrier.
Unfortunately, such car and truck accidents have certainly taken their toll, as was found in the very same study as the one mentioned directly in the paragraph above. In just these 200,000 or so car and truck accidents, as many as 39,000 people will sustain various injuries, some of them quite serious indeed. And even more unfortunately, up to 500 people will end up losing their lives entirely, causing a great deal of pain and suffering for their loved ones.
Fortunately, such types of car and truck and other such motor vehicle accidents can quite easily be prevented through the use of truck bed tie downs and other devices to secure cargo firmly and securely to the truck that is in question. Aside from truck bed tie downs, there are a variety of other elements of this equipment that can be used. For instance, a type of truck bed tie downs, called bull ring tie downs, are quite popular, as are retractable truck tie downs.
Aside from truck bed tie downs completely, truck bed anchors are also quite commonly utilized throughout the entirety of the trucking industry here in the United States – and even quite far beyond it as well. Truck tie down hooks also prevent a viable alternative, should truck bed tie downs not be available, as do stake pocket tie downs and other such variations on typical truck bed tie downs. But no matter what securing device is used, from retractable anchors to truck bed tie downs, the use of such devices, and their proper use at that, can end up saving countless lives as time continues to pass on and fewer and fewer such accidents are had.
And the purchase of trucks – particularly trucks that are known as light trucks – is becoming more popular than ever before here in the United States, meaning that such things as truck bed tie downs will also become more necessary than ever as well. As a matter of fact, the data that has been gathered on the subject more than backs up this claim, showing that nearly 20% of all purchased vehicles here in the United States are light trucks (around 18% of them, to be more exact). And with more trucks being sold than ever, it is hopeful that more truck bed tie downs and other such securing devices will be sold throughout the country as well, more than ever before and with less truck accident casualties than ever.
