Subaru is the Japanese term for the Pleiades star cluster. The star cluster forms the Seven Sisters constellation. This was seen as appropriate for the company?s logo, considering it was comprised of several former companies that merged to create Fuji Heavy Industries. The very first Subaru was called the Subaru 1500.
